DTN COMMENT:  All is quiet in the country this afternoon with bids and 
asking prices yet to be established, significant trade volume will likely 
be delayed until the second half of the week. New showlists appear to be 
mixed, higher in Kansas, Nebraska/Colorado, but lower in Texas

Today's slaughter totaled 113,000 head, even with the prior week, but 
9,000 below a year ago. Cattle futures closed mixed, off 142 to up 72 (the 
soon to expire April issue is the only contract to close higher) while 
feeder issues ended the day lower off 35 to 92. Beef cutouts are expected 
to close higher with light to moderate box movement.
